ONSS Touch Tournament

Awesome! 3rd place!  We came 3rd in the plate 7th overall in touch. I think everyone at least scored 1 try.  The Rongomai girls came 6th overall.  The girls won 2 games, lost 2 games and had 1 draw.  Boys had three wins, 3 losses and 1 draw. Touch was fun.

Rongomai's 40th Birthday Celebrations

It was a great day.  The sun was shining so bright and today was a special day.  It was the 40th celebration of  Rongomai primary school.  Lots of families came to celebrate together and it was so cool and it was a special day for our school to get to know people from Rongomai.  As we were in our class Whaea Sonia came and we went to the office and there were loud music.  Later on we got our morning tea then Room 4 came along to get their moring tea. When we came back inside and did our stop motion movies.  After that we went to the canopy and we all did Zumba then when we finished we went to the courts and got into groups of 1,2,3 because we were playing sports with the Counties Manukau people.  First group 1 went to go play rob the nest. I got tired because we had to run and get the rugby balls then when it was over group 1 went to go play soccer we got into groups and when we were starting the Kapa Haka group had to go and the Siva Samoa girls had to go practice then later on we had to stop the game.  Ater the games the kapa haka group performed then the Sathya Sai Prescool performed their performance, then the cook island group performed then Poetiare performed, then Siva Samoa then the choir people sang their songs.  It was just lovely.

First Aid for Camp

On Friday Whaea Jenny from St Johns came and taught us some first aid in case we need to use it on camp. We learnt how to put an unconscious but breathing person in the recovery position.  You need to get them on their side with their leg supporting them, and have their airway open so they don't choke on their tongue or spew!  Then we did work on pretending we had cut ourselves and our partner bandaged up our cuts.  You need to remember pressure and elevation!  The last thing we learnt about was if someone got hypothermia.  We liked that chocolate was good for that!  Thanks Whaea Jenny, we learnt heaps!

Holidays are over!!

Well, the holidays are all over. Has been an amazing few weeks. I spent some time with my family, and then some time at home. For 3 days last week I went to Rotorua and learnt a lot of new things that I can use in the classroom. Watch out Room 5 - that's all you're going to be hearing about for a while! You are going to be my guinea pigs, hope you don't mind :-)

We are going to have a brilliant term - camp is not far away, stop motion movies coming up, lots of work on the computer to keep us busy and occupied!

Whaea D, over and out!
